Give Me Space Campaign

As the founder and CEO of Babyblooms I get to spend all day every day thinking about pregnant women, new mums and babies and coming up with ways to make them feel special. I think I have the best job in the world! So, when I learnt about the difficulties that some new mums and pregnant women were facing just trying to go about their daily lives, getting in and out of their car at the supermarket, I felt compelled to try and help; and the Give Me Space campaign was born.

I did some research and discovered that every day, parents, caregivers and pregnant women are putting themselves and their children at risk due to a shortage of parent and child spaces. And this is a national problem, our research shows that 90% of pregnant women have reported struggling to get their bump in and out of a vehicle due to lack of space in a normal parking bay. Not only that, but 90% of parents more often than not cannot find a free parent and child space, and as we know, trying to get a baby car seat out of the car when parked in a normal space can be an absolute nightmare. What this all boils down to is that we need more parent and child spaces, for parents with young children and for heavily pregnant women.

I was shocked to discover that there are currently no official recommendations set by government as to the number of allocated parent and child spaces in public car parks and so I have launched a petition to raise awareness of this issue and to gather support for a white paper for government calling for more spaces to be allocated to families. If you would like to support our campaign and share your experiences then we would be delighted to hear from you, you can find all the information at www.givemespace.net. Please join us in supporting safer parking for families and the Give Me Space campaign!
